Kushmanda is an incarnation of the Hindu goddess Shakti (also referred to as Mahadevi). While generally, Shakti is reverted as the supreme mother goddess and the goddess of power - in her incarnation as Kushmanda she is specifically honored as the creator of the universe. Kushmanda is said to have eight arms, and is worshiped under the epithet astabhuja meaning “eight-armed”.
